How to Add, Group, and Customize Tools in Connect

A Step-by-Step Guide to Building Your Connect Panel

 

The Customize Tools section in Connect allows you to add, arrange, and manage the engagement tools displayed on your Connect panel. You can feature tools, group them together, and remove tools as needed to create an optimized user experience for your church’s website visitors.


1. Accessing the Customize Tools Section

  • Log in to your Connect Dashboard.
  • In the left-hand menu, navigate to Customize Tools.
  • A live preview of your panel appears on the right, allowing you to see changes in real time.

2. Adding New Tools to Your Panel

You can add various engagement tools to your panel, such as Live Chat, Video Showcase, Contact Forms, and Meeting Schedulers.

How to Add a Tool

  1. Click "Add Tool" at the top of the screen.
  2. Choose a tool from the available list (e.g., Live Chat, Meeting Scheduler, Link Launcher).
  3. The tool will appear in your panel.

Note: Most tools can only be added once per panel, except for tools like Link Launcher, which supports multiple instances.

Rearranging Tools

  • Use the drag-and-drop function (six-dot icon) to reorder tools.
  • Place frequently used tools at the top of the list for visibility.

3. Featuring a Tool for Increased Visibility

Some tools, like Live Chat, may need extra emphasis on your panel.

How to Feature a Tool

  1. Click the star icon next to the tool.
  2. The tool will now be displayed as a primary button instead of being grouped with other options.
  3. Click the star icon again to remove the feature setting.

4. Grouping Tools for Better Organization

If your panel contains multiple tools, you can group them together under a shared category.

How to Create a Tool Group

  1. Click "Add Group" at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter a Group Name (e.g., Next Steps or New Visitor Info).
  3. Select an icon to visually represent the group.
  4. Drag and drop tools into the group.
  5. Click "Save" to finalize your changes.

Plan a Visit (Meeting Scheduler)

5. Deleting a Tool or Group

You can remove tools or entire groups if they are no longer needed.

How to Remove a Tool

  1. Click the trash can icon next to the tool.
  2. Confirm deletion when prompted.

How to Delete a Tool Group

  1. Open the group.
  2. Click the trash can icon next to the group name.
  3. The group and all associated tools will be removed.

6. Previewing Your Panel Changes

  • Use the Live Preview panel on the right to test your new layout.
  • Click "View Live" to see how your updated panel will appear on your website.

Best Practices for Organizing Your Connect Panel

Prioritize key tools – Place high-engagement tools (e.g., Live Chat, Plan a Visit) at the top.
Use Groups for Better Navigation – Organize tools logically (e.g., "New Here?" group for first-time visitors).
