How to create custom taxonomies in Events?
Learn how to create custom taxonomies for Events extension
1. Settings - Taxonomies tab allows you to create new taxonomies for the Events extension. Click the Taxonomies tab
2. Tag and Category are default taxonomies and can not be deleted. Only newly created taxonomies can be deleted.
Click the pencil icon to edit a taxonomy
3. You can edit the Display Name and the Website Page URL, however, you can not edit the Type and System Name for the created taxonomies
Display Name in Singular - the taxonomy will be displayed in Settings - Taxonomies tab and in Event Post when assigning a category/tag of the taxonomy.
Display Name in Plural - is how a taxonomy will be displayed as a new template page in the Events - Templates.
Website Page URL - allows you to edit the URL for the taxonomy.
4. Click "Add" to create a new taxonomy
5. Select from the dropdown if you need the Taxonomy to be applied as One per Post (will be a category taxonomy) or Multiple per Post (will be a tag taxonomy).
6. Specify Display Name in Singular and Plural and click "Next".
7. Check if the System Name in Singular and Plural are correct. The name is mostly used in the website builder for internal links. The end user will not see the name.
Click "Apply" to confirm the changes and add the taxonomy
8. After it is created, you can see that you now have a tab called "Season Events" where you can create more Season Events categories. This works exactly the same like Tags and Categories.
Please note that in case you want to delete this new taxonomy, make sure that you delete any categories you created there first, and once the taxonomy is empty, go to Settings - Taxonomies and click the bin icon to delete it.
9. Go back to Events Posts
10. Select a required Events Post to apply a Season Events category
11. Select from the dropdown a required category from the Season Event taxonomy
12. Click "Save" to confirm the changes
