How to Use the Link Launcher Tool in Connect

Create Quick, Custom Buttons to Direct Visitors Anywhere

The Link Launcher tool in Connect allows you to create custom buttons that link to external pages, internal pages, social media, or third-party tools. Unlike other tools in Connect, you can have multiple Link Launchers within the same panel, making it a flexible and powerful way to guide visitors to important resources.

1. What Is the Link Launcher Tool?

The Link Launcher is a button-based tool that enables visitors to:
✅ Instantly navigate to any page (on your site or an external site).
✅ Open giving pages, sermons, contact forms, or social media.
✅ Seamlessly integrate with third-party chat platforms (like Intercom, HelpCrunch, or LiveChat).
✅ Keep engagement high without disrupting the visitor’s browsing experience.

💡 Why It Matters: The Link Launcher allows for easy quick access to key pages, increasing conversions and interaction.

2. Adding a Link Launcher to Your Panel

Step 1: Accessing the Link Launcher Tool

  1. Log in to your Connect Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Customize Tools.
  3. Click “Add Tool” and select Link Launcher.
  4. If you already have a Link Launcher, click the down arrow next to it to expand settings.

3. Customizing Your Link Launcher

Step 2: Naming and Display Settings

  • In Tool Title, rename it to clearly describe the link destination.
✅ Examples: “Online Giving,” “Watch Sermons,” “Plan a Visit,” or “Follow Us on Facebook.”
  • Under Visibility, select when this tool will be available:
    • Always (Recommended for most links).
    • Working Hours Only (For time-sensitive links like live chat or appointment scheduling.)
    • After Hours (If the link is relevant only outside regular hours.)

4. Configuring the Link Destination

Step 3: Choosing a Link Type

You have two primary options:

Open URL (Recommended for External Pages or Internal Site Navigation)

Inline Script (For Advanced Users and Third-Party Tools)

  • Use this if integrating a script-based tool (e.g., custom JavaScript interactions).
  • Compatible with Intercom, HelpCrunch, LiveChat, and other platforms.

5. Adjusting Link Behavior

Step 4: Open in New Tab vs. Same Tab

  • Enable "Open in New Tab" (Recommended) – Ensures visitors stay on your site while viewing linked content.
  • Disable this setting – The link will open in the same tab, replacing your website.

💡 Best Practice: Keep visitors on your website by opening external links in a new tab.

6. Enhancing User Experience with Custom Icons

Step 5: Selecting an Icon

To make the Link Launcher visually engaging:

  • Choose from the default icon library.
  • Match icons to the type of link for easy recognition.
    ✅ Example icons:
    • 🎬 Video → For sermon pages.
    • 💳 Giving → For online donations.
    • 📅 Calendar → For event scheduling.

7. Saving and Testing Your Link Launcher

Step 6: Save and Preview

  1. Click “Save” to apply changes.
  2. Open your website and click the Link Launcher to verify it works.
  3. Adjust as needed by returning to the Customize Tools section.

8. Best Practices for Using Link Launcher

Use descriptive titles – Visitors should immediately understand where the link leads.
Organize multiple Link Launchers – Place similar links together in groups for easy access.
Test links before publishing – Ensure all links work correctly and open as expected.
Use Link Launcher for external sites – Keep engagement high while directing users to important resources.
